MY JOURNEY : NOW I KNOW AND YOU SHOULD KNOW TOO

By Gregorius Mosed Karhindra, ST

Based on my experience to the village Taen Terong, sub Riung, Ngada regency, East Nusa Tenggara province, Republic of Indonesia, in May 2012. See and experience life directly with villagers who are not served by electricity supply from PLN (Perusahaan Listrik Negara / State Electricity Company), the supply of clean water from PDAM  (Perusahaan Daerah Air Minum / Regional Water Company), have paved roads, etc.

In my current journey, I met many people including Mr. Anselmus, a farmer whose minds are opened by God to change his thresher engine that had broken in combination with the dynamo (generator) into a tool to generate electricity, which can turn some lights in the house to illuminate and help the family activities at night despite for a few hours considering the amount of diesel fuel that is as fuel.

After discussing with Mr. Anselmus, I know if Mr. Anselmus had been living in rural and remote areas not served by electricity supply from PLN, away from sources of information to support his activities (internet, manual build power plants, etc.) , far from a store that sells power tools, etc., not a scholar or have experienced a higher education at the University. Mr. Anselmus was just a farmer who daily activities associated with rice fields and cattle, which saw other people who made the tool and then try to make it for his own with his own funds.

With the above explanation, as to tell me, you and everyone, that all men are endowed by God, the potential of the brain that can think and find solutions for problems of life as people with higher education, regardless of formal education. With this reality, let us assume the people who regard the people who live in rural and remote areas are the stupid people who do not know what about a way for the progress of their life, then 'sell' as an excuse to to get a scholarship , money or status as a public official, is THE FOOL PEOPLE itself.

In conclusion, out of school for various reasons is not a major obstacle to the progress of a person. Attitude that continues to diligently study is an important requirement for true progress of a person beside supporting facilities.
